Charly Boy - Why I Sleep In A Coffin

Charly Boy - Why I Sleep In A Coffin
Nigerian controversial entertainer, Charly Boy recently revealed why he sometimes sleep in a casket.

Read his reasons, including responses to his fans’ criticisms below.

Sleeping in a Coffin?

Point of correction, I do not sleep in a casket, I sleep on my bed, it’s big and comfy, I only lay in my “casket”when I do my meditation because it helps me to be focused, it tells me more about the imminence of death. My casket is a reminder. It wakes me up from slumber. It tells me, “guy, you have got little or no time left, wake up, be creative and work”.

Of course, when I read some of the comments of my people, I know a good number of us are ill-informed about quite a number of things. I think it is more of what the casket represents that shocks my people and they start reading meanings into it, depending on their level of understanding. But one question is, what if the same wood that was used to build the casket was used to make a sofa chair? May be, all the hullabaloo about me sitting on a chair wouldn’t have been there in the first place? So when people vocalize their disapproval of my message via the image of a casket,  I understand that they do that from a position of Fear, fear of what the casket represents – Death. So whatever people fear they antagonize. But, the fact that I have reminded myself and even you about death does not really change a thing. It won’t draw your death near, and it won’t even shift it away. All it does is simply a reminder, to thread carefully.

My Coffin sensitizes

Only if a kidnapper can buy a casket for himself today, and begin to lay inside, constantly reminding himself that death looms even as he goes about kidnapping and extorting money from families. It’s possible to realize at a point that all his activities will one day end up in a casket, and there, his flesh will rotten. The same is applicable to all evil doers. They need to realize, like in the famous book, “Waiting for Godot” that the world is bizarre and empty, as vanity plus vanity will always end up in vanity. Crime no dey pay jor.

My Coffin preaches:

Take a critical look at my image inside the coffin, it speaks volume. I always lay in my casket with my cap, glasses, shoes on. I’m always well dressed. Yes, it is always done intentionally to tell us that your glory disappears with all the wealth you must have acquired the very day you go to that coffin. Your glory-your cap goes with you, your vision-your glasses goes with you; your struggle-your shoes goes with you. The only thing left of you is your history and your legacy. The crux of the message is to leave a legacy, so we can live forever, not in the physical, but in people’s memories.  As for me, I will live forever. You dey vex???

We are blind because of our fears

Who knows what any of us sees from the privacy of our own blindness? Make no mistakes, each of us is blind in a particular way, just as each of us is sighted uniquely. Consider how each of us is blinded by what we fear. If we fear heights, we are blind to the humility vast perspectives bring. If we fear Passion, we are blind to the comfort of Oneness. If we fear change, we are blind to the abundance of life. If we fear death, we are blind to the mystery of the unknown. And since to fear is something thoroughly human, to be blind is unavoidable. It is what each of us must struggle to overcome. To a large degree, I have overcome my fear of death, all I ask God, is that may my death not be painful. I’m sure some of you know how my cousin who was killed by kidnappers died an agonizing death. You see, in the course of our lives, we all stumble and struggle, repeatedly, in and out of relationship, in and out of the grace of the hidden wholeness of life, most of us struggle and stumble with the uncertainty of tomorrow as Nigerians. I have discovered that in the course of our lives, and as blind children, we may never know what we are called to be until we have learned what we are called to become by simply overcoming our fears. In life, death is the most important reminder of all activities. Abi you dey vex???

Mandela discharged from hospital

Former South African leader, Nelson Mandela left hospital Saturday after a 10-day stay during which the 94-year-old anti-apartheid icon was treated for pneumonia, the South African president’s office said.
“Former president Nelson Mandela has been discharged from hospital today, April 6, following a sustained and gradual improvement in his general condition,” presidency spokesman Mac Maharaj said in a statement.
“The former president will now receive home-based high care.”
This latest stay in hospital was Mandela’s third since December.
Last month he was admitted for a night for a scheduled check-up and in December he was hospitalised for 18 days for a lung infection and gallstones surgery.
That stint was his longest since he walked free from 27 years in jail in 1990.
Maharaj said Saturday that President Jacob Zuma extended his gratitude to all South Africans and people around the world for their support.
“President Zuma thanks the hard-working medical team and hospital staff for looking after Madiba so efficiently,” he said, using Mandela’s clan name.

Our friend is addicted to raping girls

By EMMA UNA, Calabar
A thirty-year-old man, whose name was simply given as Rowland, is now in police custody in Calabar  for allegedly raping a thirteen-year-old girl.
The girl, who reported the incident to the police at Akim Police Division which effected  the arrest of Rowland, said she was returning from school, on Friday, 22  March, when she met Rowland who took her to his house and  raped her all-night.  The story took  a twist when the suspect’s friends were quoted as alleging he was addicted to raping young girls.
“I was coming back from school and the road was very dark because NEPA took light as rain was threatening to fall and I was afraid of walking the road alone. I had to wait in a nearby shop and while there I saw Rowland who lives close to our house. I told him I was afraid of going back home alone and he assured me he would escort me home. After he bought what he wanted to buy, we set out together towards home”, the victim said.
She said while on their way home, the suspect, who lives some houses away from the 31 Barracks Road where Mary  resides, said he wanted to call in his place to pick an umbrella in the event that the rain that is threatening falls.  “And,  since it was very dark on the road, he asked me to come to the house and wait  while he gets the umbrella. We got to his house, I waited at the door for him to get the umbrella but suddenly he came out and grabbed me and flung me inside his room and shut the door”.
Mary, an  extra-mural student at  Government Secondary School, Akim, said she shouted and screamed but the “man over powered me and used his palm to gag me and sprayed something on me and I became too weak and he raped me several times until I became unconscious”.
Mary said  the  suspect  kept her in his room till the next day .“It was on Saturday morning that I found myself at the staircase to our apartment when neighbours gathered round and woke me to find out why I slept at the steps”.
It was then she remembered the events of the previous night and reported  to the police which went after Rowland but was nowhere to be found. It was on Sunday morning that the police were able to locate the suspect  who said he spent the previous day at a wedding ceremony where he  was engaged  as a video camera man.
“I was called by my friend Nse who had his wedding on Saturday that his camera man had been arrested  and that I should get to Akim Police Division to help secure his bail and when I got there, I discovered that the man was arrested for rape, and I am against such acts and rather told the police to charge him to court”, Barrister James Ibor of Basic Rights Counsel Initiative told Sunday Vanguard.
He said friends of the suspect  testified that the “fellow is addicted to raping young girls. It is better to put such a person where he belongs- the prison-so that his character could be reformed”, Ibor said.
DSP John Umoh, the Cross River State Police  Command  Public Relations Officer, said the man would soon be charged to Family Court so that the “victim can  go  there and testify  since that court sits in camera”.

Untold story of pastor arrested over robbery attack at MMI Airport

Pastor Ibikunle Suspects: Olarewaju John and Ibrahim Abdullahi (Informant)
Suspects: Pastor Ibikunle  Olarewaju John (l)and Ibrahim Abdullahi (Informant)
On Tuesday, Lagos State Police Command, paraded seven suspects of a robbery gang that attacked the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos, last month, killed two policemen and injured several others.
Among the suspects, was the General Overseer of The way of Joy church located in Egbe, a Lagos suburb. The clergy , identified as  Pastor Ibikunle Olarewaju John, confessed to Crime Guard during the parade, that he administered  an oath of secrecy on the gang members, on the day they attacked the Muritala Mohammed Airport.
Members of the gang  discovered to have come all the way  from Kwara, Osun, Ibadan and Ogun states, during interrogation, confessed to have attacked same airport last year, where they carted away  N600 Million.  They also stormed the  airport on again on March 13, 2013 at about 7.30 pm.
•Pastor Ibikunle's 'The Way of Joy' Church

But this time around, they were reportedly engaged in a gun battle by two policemen attached to Apapa division said to be on  official assignment at the airport. Unfortunately for the policemen, they were gunned down in the process. But before they breathed their last, they managed to kill a member of the gang.
The robbers said to have succeeded in carting away over N10 Million from a Bureau-De -change operators,  went straight to  their hideout inside a bush in Ijebu-Ode, where they shared their loot.
Dedicates cars with members from loot
In this interview with Pastor Ibikunle, he disclosed that his share of the loot was N500,000. But investigation carried out by Crime Guard, showed that he might have got more than that.  A  suspected member of the gang confirmed Crime Guard’s claim. A further attestation to this claim, was the discovery that Pastor Ibikunle bought two cars  apparently from his share of the loot, two weekes later.
During Crime Guard’s visit to The Way of Joy Church, located on Alliu Street, Egbe, Thursday, it was discovered that the church was built with planks. And locating the church was a difficult task, as there was no sign board. It took Crime Guard  about an hour search to locate it .
On closer look , it was discovered that the church had been  sealed. Although, no one agreed to talk about Pastor Ibikunle and the church when approached, apparently for fear of being arrested .
Finally, a man who pleaded anonymity  opened up and asked :“Are you a member of the church”? The reporters shook their heads.
He further said, “ if you know what is good for you, better leave there before you will get yourself into trouble. The  white garment church was sealed last week after the arrest of the Pastor.. Some policemen came last week and arrested him and before we knew it, we started hearing he was a member of a robbery gang. Even , the whole newspapers in Nigeria carried the news two days ago”
Before his arrest, Pastor Ibikunle was said to have dedicated two vehicles ,during which he hosted members of his church and friends to a buffet.
“Although he is an easy- going fellow who by every dint of appearance never exhibited any character  of  a robber. We usually saw people coming in and out of  the church on  daily. And on Sundays, there were usually church services.
Towards the end of the month, he treated his members and  friends who came in posh cars to a party, in celebration of his newly purchased cars. It was not long that we heard he bought them with the proceeds from the robbery  operation at the airport. It was after his arrest that I believed the popular saying that facial appearance is indeed deceptive”, another resident who earlier declined to speak on the issue said.
Wife absconded with children
From Crime Guard’s findings, it was discovered also that when operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery  Squad stormed  the clergy’s one-room apartment  located on the same building with the church, to effect  his arrest, his wife was not at home.
On arrival, she was said to have visited  Ikotun, Ejigbo and Idimu police stations in search for her  husband. She was said to have  also raised alarm that he could have been abducted by men in police uniform.
But when news of her husband’s alleged indulgence in criminal activities reached her, she was said to have been spelled bound.
A  family friend to the Ibikunles told Crime Guard that, “ she came crying to us that some men in plain clothes came to pick her husband. But when she discovered the truth at SARSs where we eventually found him, she broke down. At first she did not believe the claim, as she thought it could have been  cooked up. But when her husband confessed to her, she said that was the height  she could take from him.
“More painful according to her, is the fact that she said she asked her husband where he got the money with which he bought the cars , only for him to tell her it was given to him by someone  who got healed of a terminal disease after a deliverance section with him.”
As at the time Crime Guard visited, Mrs Ibikunle was nowhere around the church’s premises. But a neigbour later  revealed that she was seen packing her belongings out of the house, with her children. The resident could however, not say her whereabouts. Since the arrest, no church member had reportedly come to worship there.
I spent 14 hours in the bush waiting for the gang members—Pastor Ibikunle
Speaking with Crime Guard, Pastor Ibikunle revealed that he spent 14  hours in the gang’s hideout, inside a bush in Ijebu-Ode area of Ogun State, on the day of the robbery attack at the international airport.
Hear him, “ Before  that day, one of them, Asiwaju, said I should come and administer an oat of secrecy on members of his gang. I invited them to come to my church but they said they would not want to  arouse  suspicion. At the end, I went to Ijebu-Ode.  I waited at a designated point before a member of the gang came and took me to their hideout inside the bush.
I administered the oath on them  about 1pm. You will not understand if I start explaining because it is a spiritual thing. I said some incantation into a horn and added some other things.
I waited there until they came back around 11.30pm.,before  leaving next day, with N500,000. I was  instructed not to tell any one about what transpired.I swore, that is all my involvement. I never followed them to rob”, he said.
Asked if he informed his wife about his mission, he replied, “ No, I did not. I only told her when leaving that I was going to pray over night for a ‘big man’ who would not like to come to our area. And when I came back, I told her the money was given to me by the ‘big man’”.
I regret my involvement
In an emotional laden voice, Pastor Ibikunle looked at Crime Guard , battling hard not to betray his emotion, “ Am I going to die? He asked with a tear filled eyes. Ah! he exclaimed. I would have remained in my cubicle as a poor man than heeding the advice of the gang. Now,  I am left without nothing! My condition is even worse.
“I’m appealing to every member of my church  to forgive me for embarrassing them. This is the devil’s handiwork. I can not even face members of my family now…”, the 37 year-old father of  two paused and bent his head, refusing to speak any further.

36 killed in Benin road crash

Scores of people were confirmed dead yesterday in a multiple fatal crash at Igbogui market along the Ore -Benin highway.

The accident involved a truck belonging to Dangote company, a tanker laden with PMS (fuel)
and a luxury bus belonging to the Young Shall Grow Transport Company.
Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps Jonas Agwu said preliminary reports indicated that “a tyre from the Dangote truck suddenly pulled out and rammed into the tanker which caught fire immediately.  The luxury bus which was in speed, lost control and ran into the blazing fire, consuming its occupants.
“However, an FRSC team was on hand to rescue three passengers while 30 others died from the luxury bus. The tanker driver with his assistant, in addition to the truck driver and his assistant were also confirmed dead. Two children were also consumed by the fire which spread to a nearby mechanic workshop, burning eight additional vehicles resulting to a heavy traffic gridlock.”
Meanwhile, a detachment of the FRSC, Police and a construction company were at the scene for intensive traffic control and diversion of route to ensure seamless traffic flow along the corridor, he said.
The Corps advised road users on Benin road to take Oluku junction - Ifon-Owo-Akure road to Lagos while vehicles from Lagos are advised to take Akure-Owo road .  The FRSC also contacted the Young Shall Grow transport company and has a scanned copy of its manifest which confirms that 30 persons boarded the bus earlier in the day from the Jibowu terminus to Enugu.
Disturbed by the recent spate of road crash fatalities linked to speeding and reckless driving, the Corps has decided to evoke its statutory powers to institute legal actions against drivers and transport operators whose vehicles are responsible for such crashes. Part of this arrangement includes the Corps’ resolve to assist victims and relations of road crash victims to seek compensation from such fleet operators.

No fewer than 100 people were killed in two separate road accidents which occurred  in Okija, along Owerri-Onisha Highway in Anambra State and Ofosu, the boundary town between Edo and Ondo States yesterday.
About 80 persons were reportedly burnt to death in the accident involving a haulage truck, a petrol tanker and the Young Shall Grow double-decker bus at Ugbogui Village, near Ofosu at about 1.30pm just  as 20 other passengers who were travelling in two commercial buses owned by the Rivers State Transport Company, RTC, reportedly died at Okija, when another haulage truck rammed onto them in the early hours of the day.
Sources said that the accident occurred as the Young Shall Grow bus and the haulage truck were struggling over which vehicle had the right of way and the petrol tanker which was fully loaded with petrol rammed into the two vehicles and burst into a huge ball of flame. The victims were burnt beyond recognition even as the accident led to traffic gridlock that lasted for over three hours.
Sene of the accident involving a luxury bus, trailer and tanker at Ugbogui Village along Benin-Ore Express roadAn official of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed the incident at press time saying that only three of the passengers were rescued from the fully loaded luxury bus pointing out that the mangled bodies of the victims littered the scene.
According to the eye witness, the victims of the Ore- Benin accident included drivers of the vehicles and their conductors (motor-boys) and 53 passengers in the Luxury bus.
Another source at the scene however said that the multiple accident occurred when the haulage vehicle which had a flat tyre rammed into the tanker which also swerved and rammed onto the double-decker Luxury bus, causing the petrol tanker to explode and burst into flame that consumed all those around the area.
FRSC confirmed 36 dead in Ore-Benin road crash
Also preliminary reports from the FRSC stated that 36 persons dead in the Ore-Benin road crash and that the accident occurred when a tyre from the Dangote truck  suddenly pulled out and rammed into the tanker which caught fire immediately.

At Okija in Anambra State, an eye witness told Saturday Vanguard that a trailer had rammed onto the oncoming vehicles, including two buses belonging to the RTC, killing most of the occupants of the two buses instantly.
The accident caused an excruciating traffic jam on both lanes. For several hours, commuters were at stand still as movement was virtually impossible.
However, there was a little respite on the expressway after about two hours as vehicles coming from the Onitsha end had to divert at Okija junction, while those coming from the Owerri end diverted at Ezego junction at Ihiala.
Mangled bodies of the victims were scattered along the road, while those wounded were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Men of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, and the police, as well as other volunteers were at the scene of the accident clearing the blocked road.
It was not clear what caused the accident, but an eye witness said that the trailer driver might have lost control on the sloppy road and subsequently rammed onto other vehiles.a

Michael Jackson’s mother is seeking billions of dollars from tour promoters she says are responsible for her son’s 2009 death

LOS ANGELES (AFP) – Jury selection was to begin Tuesday in a long-awaited trial in which Michael Jackson’s mother is seeking billions of dollars from tour promoters she says are responsible for her son’s 2009 death.
Katherine Jackson, 82, accuses AEG Live of negligently hiring doctor Conrad Murray to look after the King of Pop as he rehearsed in Los Angeles for a doomed series of London shows.
Micheal Jackson
Micheal Jackson
Murray, jailed after being convicted of involuntary manslaughter in 2011 for giving the singer an overdose of the drug propofol, could be called to testify in the wrongful death case, although he may refuse to do so.
Katherine Jackson herself, as well as the late pop star’s two elder children, will also give evidence in the trial that comes nearly four years after his death, and could last more than two months.
Jury selection in the Los Angeles Superior Court was delayed early Tuesday over a legal argument about television coverage of the proceedings.
Broadcasters CNN and NBC are pressing Judge Yvette Palazuelos to allow live coverage, noting that it was granted for the Murray trial two years ago. Their lawyers pressed her again Tuesday, after she denied a CNN request on March 7.
Jackson died aged 50 at his Los Angeles mansion on June 25, 2009, from an overdose of propofol, a powerful sedative administered by Murray to help the “Thriller” legend deal with chronic insomnia.
At the time of his death, he was rehearsing for a series of 50 shows in London, organized with Anschutz Entertainment Group in what was seen as an attempt to revive his career and also ease his financial woes.
Jackson’s mother argues that AEG Live pushed her son too hard to prepare for the performances.
But AEG says Jackson had a history of drug abuse long before the singer met Murray, who was hired to care for him before and during the shows at London’s O2 Arena.
The trial on Katherine Jackson’s civil lawsuit was put off until after Murray’s 2011 criminal trial was over, and legal wrangling also delayed a scheduled September start.
Lawyers have notably argued over what should and should not be admitted as evidence.
Palazuelos has granted an AEG demand for testimony about child molestation charges against Jackson to be heard — which his mother says are irrelevant — claiming it could explain the star’s stress and medical woes.
But she has refused to allow testimony notably about the parentage of Jackson’s three children, or a bizarre incident in which his mother was allegedly kidnapped by family members and taken to Arizona last year.
Murray may be called from prison to give a deposition, but only with the jury out of the courtroom. And he may invoke his Fifth Amendment right to decline to testify in a case that might incriminate him further.
A CNN interview with Murray, conducted before the start of the trial, was to be aired later Tuesday.
AEG claims it was not responsible for hiring and supervising Murray.
“He was chosen by Michael Jackson, to be there at Michael Jackson’s behest, to be Michael Jackson’s doctor alone,” AEG lawyer Marvin Putman told CNN. “Michael Jackson was the only person who could get rid of him.”
According to celebrity news website TMZ, Jackson’s mother and his three children — Prince, 16, Paris, 14 and 11-year-old Blanket — want more than $40 billion from AEG for loss of future earnings and other damages.
AEG claims the figure is “preposterous” because Jackson’s career was in a downward spiral following the child molestation allegations, as well as self-imposed exile in the Middle East, TMZ reported.
Jackson family attorney Kevin Boyle rejected the report, telling CNN: “No demand has been made by the Jackson family for $40 billion from AEG. That is just not true.”

92-yr-old woman delivers ‘stone baby’ after 60 yrs pregnancy

Huang Yijun, aged 92, is from southern China and she recently made news after delivering a baby known as a lithopedion, aka ‘Stone Baby’.

Huang Yijun told the press she didn’t have the money to have her foetus removed after doctors told her it had died inside her in 1948. So she simply did nothing at all about it.

Lithopedion is a very rare medical phenomenon, which occurs when a pregnancy fails and the foetus actually calcifies while still in the mother’s body.

Medically, what often happens is the implanted foetus gets to an advanced stage before it dies. Too large to be absorbed by the body, the remains of the child or its surrounding amniotic sac slowly calcify, turning to stone as a way to protect the woman’s body from infection from the decomposing tissue.

If no complications occur, believe it or not, the mother can basically just go on with her life.

According to the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine, only 290 cases of lithopedions have ever been documented by medical literature.
